My Music Stuff

History:

I first got a crappy Casio keyboard for Christmas 1998. It was pretty cool to me. Pat got his guitar then. We were going to do a "band". It never happened. I got a classical guitar from Goodwill in summer 1999. Got an electric in summer 2000.

I still like playing classical, but in the few year my interests have shifted toward playing on electric. Mostly power fantasy metal and video game music. It's fun.

In 2002 I met Bill who plays drums. We've jammed a few times. We had a week in summer 2005 where we were at Buddy's (yes that's his name) house several times practicing. Buddy plays keys and does "vocals". It was fun but really loud 'cause the room was tiny. A lot of people called the cops.

Now Bill moved out of state and I'm back to playing by myself and always telling myself I'll get around to recording some songs, but it never happens because I rarely practice and am too worried about it sounding terrible to bother trying.

Saw this on the wall at Daddys. Thought to myself "Cool a Charvel Jackson. That looks kinda like Pat's Charvel Jackson. Wait that is Pat's Charvel Jackson! Grrr!" Apparently Dan sold it to them. Which sucked because I told Pat I wanted to buy it. Instead I ended up paying twice what dan got for it. But I now own the first electric I've ever played.

Well this was a pretty cool impulse buy. Fifty dollars got me a US made guitar with a real Kahler trem. Looked terrible though. Somebody "refinished it" with spray paint, without removing the electronics or hardware, and it was peeling off all over. Perfect project guitar now.
Update: So after over two years, I finally got around to finishing this. Filled the single coil and switch holes, repainted it, put on a printed sticker, clearcoated. Metal.

Looks like it was a NOS, and it cost me as much as the cheaper version normally does.

This is the classical guitar that I have right now. Bought it in June(?) 2002. I was looking for an acoustic for the stupid "Guitar Class" that I was going to be taking at the community college, mostly looking for a Seagull acoustic in particular. Daddy's didn't have any used, so I checked Guitar Center (this was actually the first time I had been in the store). I looked over on the wall and saw this thing and thought "that color and finish looks like a Seagull". I later found out that it's made by the same company, so it has similar features. Just that La Patrie makes classicals and Seagull makes regular acoustics. But I saw it in the store, looked it over, solid top, great condition, only one scratch. Played it, the thing sounded fantastic. It was the kind of tone that made me remember why I prefer classical guitars. And since it has a truss rod, which is odd for classicals, the neck is thiner than average, making it so much easier to play. So I went to the bank to get money and bought it. $200. They're usually like $400 new, but since they don't sell new ones around here and nobody's ever heard of them, it was nice and cheap. Solid cedar top, beautiful mahogany back and sides, rosewood board. I've replaced the saddle with a bone one that I cut myself. That was tough. It has a very warm tone. Not as snappy as a regular spruce top one, which is good because some sound almost like banjos because they're too snappy.

This was at daddy's for a while. Nice but beat up made-in-Japan bass for under a hundred. Good enough for me to use if I ever record.

Sounds decent enough. Much better than the Casio. The lab at MCC has these so I bought one.

From 1985, this is the board that brought you such cheesy songs as The Final Countdown.

Yeah I got a keytar.

My first amp. Got it end of December 2000. Half a year after I got my electric guitar. Sixty five watts with a twelve inch speaker. It gets loud enough to hear it down the street. It has three different voicings for the lead: one sounds higher with more of a buzz kinda sound more like punk distortion, one sounds heavier more like normal rock or metal, and one sounds vintage like classic rock sounding.

KB300
Peavey KB300bw

A ridiculously heavy keyboard amp. With a 15 inch speaker, it's as loud as it is heavy.

Peavey Rage 158 (not shown)
Cheap little guitar amp to bring out of the house. Sitting in the Everdream studio.

Peavey KB15 (not shown)
"The Baby". Looks like the kb300 but tiny, not loud, and much lighter. Used as a monitor at shows.

This thing's fun to play around with. I have some presets for stereotypical 80s tone and video game music.

I don't really like this very much. For one thing it picks up radio stations really bad. Another thing it's too thin when forward and too bassy when moved back. It's also too loose. It was used so that might be why it sucks.
